About the customer

The Central Research Institute “Cyclone” was established in June, 1961. Today, it is the only certified producer and developer of the uncooled thermal imagers and machine vision systems on its basis in the Russian Federation. The JSC CRI “Cyclone” is a part of JSC “Ruselectronics” — the largest industrial holding company, which comprises of 74 enterprises and 15 science-research institutes

About the cooperation

In 2012, Cyclone in cooperation with Ostec implemented the project dedicated to the development and creation of active-matrix micro video-modules based on AM OLED (active matrix organic light emitting diodes) used to display video and graphic information. OLED technology is one of the most difficult both in terms of the product design and organisation of the process technology, as well as in terms of the manufacturing equipment. Precision coating of the multilayer light-emitting structure was made possible only with the help of the cluster system construction. A set of cameras is combined with the common area equipped with a robot that moves the plates from one process stage to another. Thus, all the processes up to planting a silicon chip with a light emitting array onto the printed circuit board are automated and performed in a hermetically sealed area.

Self-engineered full-colour and monochromatic 0.61 ̋ microdisplays with a 800х600 screen resolution are highly competitive with the best foreign analogues on the market, but their different architecture clearly shows a hightech innovative device, not cloning.

We are planning on developing additional functions for the selfengineered microdisplay, creating next-generation microdisplays and optimising the manufacturing processes in cooperation with Ostec.
